I am committed to supporting the dedicated members of the Chanhassen Fire Department and our partners at the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. As Chanhassen grows, keeping our neighborhoods safe requires smart budget choices that prioritize rapid emergency response times, modern equipment and facilities and strong local community engagement. Unfortunately, the recent civic campus improvement project nearing completion did not include the facility needs of our frontline fire personnel. This must be a priority moving forward given the ever-changing way fire and emergency medical services are delivered today.

SAFEGUARDING CRITICAL MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE & CYBERSECURITY

Recent cyberattacks targeting Minnesota municipal water infrastructure underscored a critical reality: local security includes digital defense. Essential services like our clean drinking water, wastewater management and emergency communications must be resilient against cyber threats. Protecting Chanhassen means auditing our operational technology, enforcing strict cybersecurity protocols for essential municipal utilities and collaborating with federal and state partners. Infrastructure improvements must safeguard both our physical community and our digital backbone.

GROWTH SHOULD NOT COME AT THE EXPENSE OF LOSING OUR CITY'S IDENTITY

I stand for smart, measured development that respects our history, preserves our neighborhoods and ensures Chanhassen remains a vibrant community for generations to come. Real planning requires thoughtful strategies guided by resident voices—not developer self-interest. Protecting our lakes, parks, and green spaces must remain a top priority, alongside smart infrastructure investments that enhance our quality of life. Chanhassen’s unique character is too valuable to be compromised by cookie-cutter projects. We deserve tailored, resident-driven growth designed specifically for our community—a vision that has been missing from too many recent development approvals.

UTILITY PROJECTS IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY MUST RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY

The city must take a proactive stance in managing and regulating these projects—using its full authority under the law to establish clear guidance, minimize disruptions to property owners, enforce swift property restoration and hold subcontractors accountable. Unfortunately, as seen with the fiber optic buildout taking place in Chanhassen, officials were caught off-guard by the onslaught of telecom providers and have scrambled to catch up while neighborhood disruptions and frustration have mounted.

DATA CENTERS: TAKING A PROACTIVE APPROACH

Relying on existing city code to address a massive data center development leaves Chanhassen vulnerable to long-term harm. Communities across Minnesota—including neighboring cities like Carver and Minnetrista, as well as Minneapolis—are taking proactive steps with interim moratoriums to study these impacts before potential developers apply. Although the lure of significant property tax revenue from data centers is appealing, there are significant downsides that need to be carefully considered as this industry evolves. Their high-demand infrastructure consumes massive amounts of energy and water while creating very few permanent jobs. Additionally, their continuous cooling systems generate around-the-clock noise that can be disruptive to nearby residential areas. Chanhassen needs to take a proactive approach by carefully studying all the issues and learning best practices from other communities already impacted by data center developments. It is important that Chanhassen not be caught off guard like it was with the fiber optic buildout.

PARKS, TRAILS AND LAKES ARE AT THE CORE OF OUR COMMUNITY'S IDENTITY

Parks, trails and lakes are at the core of our community’s identity. They are where our kids play, where neighbors connect and why so many of us chose to put down roots here. Protecting these natural assets is essential to preserving Chanhassen’s high quality of life, safeguarding property values and ensuring our city remains a community for life as we grow. Smart growth isn't just about what we build—it’s about what we protect. I am committed to an approach that safeguards our water quality, maintains our trail networks and keeps our green spaces central to Chanhassen's future.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Fiscal responsibility isn't just about managing a budget—it’s about making every dollar work harder for Chanhassen. Delivering true value requires disciplined financial planning that prioritizes core services like public safety, road maintenance and clean water. If additional investments in our city make sense as we grow, new spending must prove its value to taxpayers before expanding the budget. True financial accountability demands clear communication and full transparency every step of the way—especially during budget discussions and setting the city levy.
